My new Nativity pieces

I got Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus from my parents for my birthday earlier this year. These pieces are hand carved, from Germany. Each piece is carved when ordered, then shipped immediately. They are carved from white maple.
These are the three kings that were added to my Nativity set for Christmas. It is hard to truly appreciate them in a picture! You can also get them painted, but I love the simple "naked" look!

Want your own original E.Kostner nativity? Check out http://www.weihnachtskrippen-online.de/ There are a ton of pieces...I'll never own them all myself.

November

This year has sped by so quickly. I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week! I am greatful that we've made it through another year... I only have 7 months left of school, and I pray that it continues to go quickly and well. I hope that next year is better than this one... I look forward to having more time and being able to slow down and enjoy a few things. I look forward to spending more time with my family, and to getting sleep. I am thankful for my family supporting me and putting up with me.

I look forward to watching the flowers bloom, and the leaves turn green, and as fall makes it's way back, watching all the pretty colors come and go. I really, really look forward to enjoying time. I don't want to rush. You really miss too much.

Were you there?

I love to take pictures of my family. It helps seal the memories. But when I look back through the pictures I take, I always realize there's something missing....ME. I take the pictures, but I am never in them. Don't get me wrong, no woman wants her weight immortalized in a photo, but some day my children are gonna ask me, "Mom, were you ever there?" I can't prove it. Someone else could've taken the pictures. Scooter claims it's because I won't let him touch my camera...but what about all the pictures from before I got my new camera? I guess I'll have to try harder to prove that I WAS THERE!

Almost there...

Thanks goodness Spring Break is almost here! I need a break! Just 6 more days of class and 4 finals (over 2 days) to go! I took time off from work so I really will be having a break....sorta. Do you know how much crap builds up in 12 weeks? I don't even know where to start. I'll be going through the kids' rooms pretty good. Maybe if they have less junk, the next time I'm off it will only be an ankle high mess, not thigh high.... And then there's my room! It just may take me 2 full days to clean that wreck. You know how it is, "Mom, where should I put this?", asks a child. "Just put it in my room," answers mom. There's a lot of "Stuff" in my room! Stuff is stacked on stuff. As long as I can find my bed and have a path to the bathroom, I'm good.

I've been looking for some light blue paint to re-paint the hall bathroom. (By "looking" I mean looking at the mis-tint rack for a discount.) The men in the family picked and awful yellow color a few years back and I'm over it. That is in my plans for my week "off" too. I already have primer, so I figure when I get home from work after finals are over, I'll prime then go to bed. When I get up I can paint. That little bathroom should only take an hour to paint each time. And it'll be done before Scooter gets home! SURPRISE!

Photo Tag

Ok, Janet, here's my sixth picture from my sixth folder.... This is Maya at the Greenwood Community center coloring a little pumpkin for Halloween. They had a free Halloween party for the community. The kids could play games for prizes and there were donuts too.

Six rings!

Ok, so I'm not exactly a football fan, but the Steelers are my home town team so I have to congratulate them for their 6th Super Bowl. I only watched a few minutes of the game. (Let's face it, I work nights so I was sleeping!) I did get to see the Cadinals rise up from behind then be pushed back down. (Maybe if they were Pheonixes they could have won....) I'm sure the Cardinals are disappointed, but it would have been a much uglier scene had the Steelers lost! Steeler's fans are their own brand of people...

Maya

Maya was telling me today that when she goes like this (she showed me a squinty face) and looks up at the sky she is looking at Jesus. I kinda blew off her ramblings the first time she said it cuz that girl just loves the sound of her own voice… Then she said it again and I asked her if Jesus was smiling at her. She said He was. Out of all my kids, she is the most spiritual one. Maybe I should learn a little from her child-(like) belief. If we all looked for Him a little more often we’d be a lot happier in our daily lives!

Love at first sight.

I am a confessed 80's music junkie. If you come over to my house when I get home, we'll be listening to XM satellite...the 80's station! Well, today my husband was reminiscing to one of his favorite songs (one I don't particularly care for) when he asked me if I had a memorable moment in my mind from when we first met. Of course I do (I am also a self-proclaimed hopeless romantic!) Then he asked if any one memory stood out more than the others. Again, yes. I was working as a food service manager at a convenience store when we met. (In Pennsylvania, it is common to have a full service deli counter and sandwich shop in the gas station, and we baked donuts and cookies every morning too.) My first memory of Scooter is during a very busy rush and he came up to my register and bought some candy or gum and was paying in change (mostly pennies) just to talk to me. (Ok, more background, the company he worked for did all the concrete work at this gas station and they had to come back in the spring after we opened to finish the work. He started coming in every day when it was their luch break to flirt.) As Scooter turned to walk out, he looked at me and said "I'll see you tomorrow, beautiful." Right then and there I had an overwhelming feeling that I had just met the man I was going to marry and spend the rest of my life with. You could say that I "imprinted." It was the scariest revelation in my life, mostly becasue I never felt so sure about anything in my life and I didn't even know his name at that point. That was almost 13 years ago.

Midnight Sun

Ok, this will hopefully be my last Twilight post. I've been reading Midnight Sun from Stephenie Meyer's sight (the manuscript that will never be published.) This is from Edward's point of view. I know I should just let it go, "THE END" is at the end of Breaking Dawn, but Edward has become "my brand of heroin" and I can't help it..... I feel like an awkward 16-year-old again... Do you think Scooter would get upset if I started hanging posters on my wall again? (Move over Jon Bon Jovi, Ralph Macchio, Menudo, Cory Haim....) Like I said in my earlier post, I always loved vampires. The infatuation runs quite deep. And when Stephenie came up with the Cullen clan who stay away from human blood... how perfect. We don't have to be killers now... Do you ever wonder where the original folk lore came from? Who thought up vampires in the first place? Why do they still hold such a fascination in our hearts? Wikipedia says the earliest English appearance of the word "vampire" appeared in 1734, but it could go back as far as 1047 A.D. in Russia. Sorta makes you wonder.... It does me anyways. Some one please save me and help me move on!

Happy New Year's

Here it is, a new year already. 2009. Wow. My only resolution for this year is to be grateful for what I have and not look so much at what I don't have. It really makes life easier.... It's going to be a busy year with a full year of nursing school and a little more than a whole month off for my breaks (about one whole week in between quarters....) Here's to a good year...may I make it easily through to next year!
